Hi Everybody.
Today is a big day for me as it marks the first time I’m appearing as a regular columnist in the Sunday Detroit Free Press! Yep, I’ve been contributing tons of music reviews and articles to the Freep for several years now, but as of today I’ll regularly be writing about music every three weeks in The Playlist column in the Freep, alternating with their full-time critics Brian McCollum and Mark Stryker.
In today’s Playlist column you can read my thoughts about new releases from The Breeders, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Steve Winwood, Death Cab For Cuite, Jakkob Dylan and others. It’s truly a thrill to be a regular contributor to the Sunday Free Press – hope you enjoy it, and please let me know what you think.
I’m back on the road this week making office calls after my 107one morning program, so if you work in Washtenaw County, please request one by emailing me at martin@martinbandyke.com – I’m hand-delivering the brand new Martin Bandyke wall clock, a gift package from Espresso Royale Coffee and a gift from Floral Surroundings.
This Thursday I’ll be welcoming the Detroit-based band the Hard Lessons to my show for a live, Studio A2 performance at 9am.
Spring is here and it feels great, but what’s the deal with the Tigers?!
I’ll be seeing the Rolling Stones concert film Shine A Light early this week – the combo of Scorsese and the Stones looks like a winner.
Best,
Martin
