Trumpeter, composer and band leader Miles Davis, one of the most important and influential figures in 20th century music, was born on May 26, 1926. To celebrate his centennial, I’ll devote this Sunday’s Fine Tuning to the music of Miles, featuring everything from his earliest recordings with Charlie Parker to his 1959 masterpiece “Kind of Blue” to his later fusion period to tracks from some of his final albums before his death in 1991. A jazz genius beyond compare, Miles once said this: “I have to change. It’s like a curse.” Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor’s 107one.
