After releasing five superb albums of outlaw country that would’ve surely gained the approval of Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings, Sturgill Simpson changed his stage name to Johnny Blue Skies. Why the change? “Sturgill served his purpose, but he’s dead, he’s gone, and I’m definitely not that guy anymore,” says Simpson in an interview with GQ.
