Racing! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! Remember those old Detroit Dragway commercials? You longtime listeners know I’m a huge fan of racing, mostly Formula One but also Indy Car Racing and yes, even drag racing.

This week I got the chance to visit Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on a non-race day. Fellow members of Ann Arbor Radio and I had a wonderful meeting with members of the staff of the Speedway, and I even got a ride around the track – although it was in a street vehicle, not a race car! However, we’re putting together an amazing promotion that will involve a handful of you joining me at the Firestone Indy 400 on July 30.

We also hope to choose one very special person to join me in the winner’s circle right after the race – we’ll have our picture taken with, who else, the race winner!  Maybe it’ll be with Danica Patrick, maybe Helio Castro-Neves – whoever it is, it will be a total blast.

Spring brings the start of racing season as well as a bunch of new releases including Bruce Springsteen’s We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions and the collaboration between Mark Knopfler and Emmlyou Harris, All The Road Running, along with the 1st new music from Television’s Tom Verlaine in close to 15 years!  Also out soon are new ones from Gomez, Paul Simon and Alejandro Escovedo.

Sadly, I couldn’t stay awake late enough to make it to either the Elbow show at the Magic Stick or the Death Cab For Cutie/Franz Ferdinand show at the State. If you were there, please send me your email review.

Best,

Martin
