Hi everybody.

It’s art fair time in Ann Arbor and I’m going to be right in the thick of it next week, having a blast. If you’re strolling around, stop by the 107one Stage at Church and Willard for some free live music. I’ll be there from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday – please introduce yourself!

Meanwhile, 107one’s Listener Co-op continues to seek your input on its musical selections. They’ve crunched the first batch of responses with eye-opening results, and round two is underway. I know your time is valuable. Respond if you can.

Did you know about the Ann Arbor Film Festival’s state funding being withheld? I’ll be on the air at 107one’s sister station, WLBY Air America, on Tuesday, August 1, helping out during an on-air fundraiser for the film festival. Stay tuned for more details.

Just a few days left for a compact but worthwhile photo exhibit and sale at the Art Gallery of Windsor. I truly enjoyed the work of Barrie Wentzell, a Toronto-based shooter of classic rock images including Diana Ross, Bob Dylan and the late, great Syd Barrett. It closes this Sunday. There are cool Detroit River and skyline views, and a tiny, chic restaurant at the AGW’s newish space as well.

Concert of Colors is this weekend – check out my article on this excellent annual free music event, now at the Max M. Fisher Music Center, in tomorrow’s Detroit Free Press. In the Sunday Free Press, watch for my Detroit Disc review of the latest release by Paul’s Big Radio.

Dates in my planner:

Thu., July 27, Gordon Lightfoot at Meadow Brook Music Festival

Sun., July 30, Firestone 400 IRL race at Michigan Int’l Speedway

Fri., Aug. 11, Tom Waits at the Detroit Opera House

Sat., Aug. 12, Bob Dylan in at Fifth Third Park, Grand Rapids

See you around! Go Tigers!

Best,
Martin
