This Sunday at 4pm on Fine Tuning I’ll pay tribute to MC5 bassist Michael Davis, who died on Feb. 17 at the age of 68. One of the greatest rock bands to ever come out of Detroit, the MC5 influenced everyone from Nirvana to the White Stripes. I have indelible memories of seeing the band perform in the summer of 1970 at Wayne State University’s Tartar Field — it was a blisteringly powerful show I have not forgotten after all these years.
