Hi Everybody.
Just returned from my annual pilgrimage to the Toronto International Film Festival, which is wrapping up this weekend after screening some 339 movies.
This is the 35th edition of TIFF, and I’m proud to say that this was my 27th year attending this incredible festival!
Highlights were many, including “Black Swan,” directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman; “Miral,” the latest from artist-turned-director Julian Schnabel; “The Illusionist,” a beautiful, tender work from Sylain Chomet: “The Conspirator,” a period drama directed by Robert Redford; “127 Hours,” starring James Franco in a breakthrough performance; and “Poetry,” a deeply moving Korean film which won the best screenplay award earlier this year at Cannes.
There will be no Fine Tuning tomorrow (9/19), but I’ll be back in action on Sept. 26.
Best,
Martin
