Hi Everybody.
I just witnessed Dean Wareham & Britta Phillip’s brilliant performance at Ann Arbor’s Power Center of “13 Most Beautiful – Songs for Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests.” The two former members of the much loved indie-pop Luna and their band played live while mid-60s footage of Lou Reed, Dennis Hopper, Nico and others was projected on a screen above and behind the stage. A magnificent pairing of evocative music and images.
This was the first time I’d seen Dean and Britta since Feb. of 2005 at one of the last-ever Luna shows at St. Andrew’s in Detroit.
This Saturday I’m off to Rothbury — look for my coverage in the Detroit Free Press and online at freep.com and right here at martinbandyke.com.
Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
Best,
Martin
