August isn’t typically a busy month for me, but I’ve got a few special things going on to tell you about this time around..
This Tuesday (Aug. 11) at 9am I’ll be joined on my 107one morning drive program by singer-songwriter Maia Sharp, who’ll be performing a couple of songs live in advance of her Tuesday night concert at the Ark. Maia is a gifted musician and I look forward to seeing her again — her first album in four years recently came out (“Echo”) and I highly recommend it.
Look for a Q. and A. with Mais in tomorrow’s edition of AnnArbor.com.
Then on Friday, Aug. 21 at 12:30pm, I will emcee a live performance by Brendan Benson (his other main preoccupation – The Raconteurs – are currently on hiatus) at the downtown Ann Arbor Borders on Liberty St. Brendan is getting ready to release his first solo album in a number of years (“My Old, Familiar Friend”), and plays a concert the night of the 21st at the Blind Pig. As always, the event at Borders is free and open to the public, and Brendan will sign store-bought copies of his terrific new CD right after he plays his set on the 2nd floor of Borders.
I will profile Brendan in the 8/16 edition of AnnArbor.com.
