Hello Everybody.

Sorry it’s taken me a bit to give you this update – it’s the busiest time of the year for me at Ann Arbor’s 107one and the joint is jumpin’!

I recently had the pleasure of emceeing Grillin’ 2007, a major fundraiser for Food Gatherers, the food rescue/food bank in Washtenaw County. Under sunny skies at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, almost 2,000 folks ate gourmet sausages & BBQ chicken and other goodies while enjoying the sounds of George Bedard and the Kingpins along with Back Forty. Revenue at Grillin’ was up 10% over last year, which is pretty fantastic considering how tough the Michigan economy is right now.

The other major event I emceed recently was Walk & Wag, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Humane Society of Huron Valley. That was another gigantic success for HSHV, as they raised almost $100,000, a new record! Tons of people came out with their dogs in tow (or the opposite, in some cases!), and even some damp weather didn’t lessen the joy and enthusiasm of all the supporters of the Humane Soceity. Speaking of which, my wife Kim and I just adopted two beautiful kitties from the Shelter!

I’ll be helping to emcee our Top of the Park concerts soon, which take place at Ingalls Mall (right next to the Burton clock tower) and are part of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. On June 27 it’ll be the Verve Pipe’s Brian VanderArk along with Matt Wertz. And don’t forgot the other major shows coming to the A2 Summer Festival, including Cesaria Evora at Power Center on June 19 and the dynamite duo of KD Lang and Lyle Lovett at Hill Auditorium on June 28.

Best,

Martin
