Hi everybody.
Van Morrison delivered a strong performance Nov. 7 to an enthusiastic, sold-out house at Masonic Temple – his first show in Michigan in 20 years! Highlights included stunning versions of Moondance, Back On Top and Backbiters and Syndicators, that last tune a tip of the hat to Detroit blues legend John Lee Hooker, who wrote and first recorded the tune. His 10-piece featured the amazing Cindy Cashdollar on pedal steel, who worked on Dylan’s comeback classic Time Out Of Mind.
With the holidays and the end of the ear looming, I know many of you are on the lookout for my list of top 10 CDs of 2006. I should have that up on the webiste by around Dec. 1 or so.
We’ve got one more Studio A2 on the Road event at the Liberty St. Border’s in Ann Arbor this year – it will feature Sonya Kitchell and Ben Taylor at 12:30pm on Friday, Dec. 1. Come on out and join me for this free mini-concert – BTW, Ben Taylor is the son of James Taylor and Carly Simon, so he definitely has some significant musical genes in him.
