This Sunday on Fine Tuning I’ll be featuring songs from the 50th anniversary reissue of “Horses,” the sensational debut album by Patti Smith. Released on November 10th of 1975, “Horses” is a landmark recording in the history of punk & new wave music, and sounds as fresh and incisive today as it did fifty years ago. The reissue includes remastered versions of all the original songs plus a bunch of previously unreleased material. The picture of Patti and me was taken in 2010 at the late, great Borders bookstore on Liberty Street in Ann Arbor, just before I interviewed her about “Just Kids,” her best-selling, award-winning memoir.
