This Sunday on Fine Tuning I’ll be featuring the new tribute to the Velvet Underground’s groundbreaking debut album from 1967, “The Velvet Underground & Nico.” This well-curated, song-by-song covers album includes contributions from Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop, Matt Berninger, Courtney Barnett, Andrew Bird and King Princess. I’ll also pay tribute to three major musicians who passed away over the last week: George Frayne (aka Commander Cody), Dr. Lonnie Smith & Pee Wee Ellis.
