This Sunday on Fine Tuning I’ll celebrate America’s birthday by featuring ‘American Tunes,’ the final album by the masterful New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint (pictured), who died last November at the age of 77. Also in the mix will be American tunes by James Brown (‘Living In America’) and David Bowie (his incredible live version of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘America’). And I’ll pay tribute to three more great musicians we’ve lost in the last few days: Bernie Worrell, Sir Mack Rice, and Scotty Moore. Fine Tuning: 4 – 6 p.m. Sundays on ann arbor’s 107one.
