Yes, it’s pretty absurd of me to wait until January 28 of 2013 to post my top ten film list for 2012, but I have a good excuse! There was no way I was going to make a 2012 list before seeing the Leos Carax film Holy Motors, which has received rave reviews ever since it debuted at the Cannes Festival last spring. It’s taken ridiculously long for this visionary work to come to the area, but it finally screened last weekend at the Detroit Film Theater and is coming to the Michigan Theater this week. And don’t even get me started on the subject of Amour, the Oscar-nominated masterwork which still hasn’t opened in the Detroit/A2 area. OK, enough grousing…here’s the list:
