How nice to see the date March 31 drawing near – that for me is the real first day of spring, because it’s the day of the Tigers home opener! “World Series bound and pickin’ up steam” – so goes the old song from the 1968 campaign – it’s on my mind again bigtime in ’08. Play ball!
I’ve got the Lansing-based band Steppin’ In It booked for a live performance on my 107one morning show for Tuesday, March 18 around 9am – that’s two days before their CD release show at the Ark.
Look for me out and about at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, which runs from March 25 to March 30 at the Michigan Theater. I’ll be there on opening night and will be the emcee for a film screening on Saturday, March 29 – more details soon.
I’m also in the midst of writing a piece on the band Tally Hall for the April issue of the Ann Arbor Observer magazine, in conjunction with the Atlantic Records re-release of their terrific debut album ‘Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum,’ which has been partially re-recorded and completely re-mixed.
And finally, look for ‘5 questions’ with Steppin’ In It, American Music Club and Joe Jackson in the Thursday Play section of the Detroit Free Press in the weeks to come.
