Rock-tober (I can’t resist, forgive me) continues with a whole bunch of shows and special events this week and beyond. I’ll be at Borders on Liberty St. in Ann Arbor to emcee a free, live performance at 12:30 p.m. (simulcast on 107one) this Friday, Oct. 19 with Raul Midon.
On Saturday, Oct. 20 I’ll be participating in the first-ever Ypsilanti Songwriting Festival, which takes place mostly at the Ypsilanti District Library (5577 Whittaker). No, I won’t be picking up a guitar and singing you songs myself (that’ll be the day!), but I will be moderating a songwriter’s panel at 5 p.m. and doing a Q&A with acclaimed singer-songwriter Freedy Johnston at 7 p.m.. So Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello were magical at the EMU Convocation Center in Ypsi last Saturday, as expected. Next up is the Wilco show this Wednesday at the Fox, with Neil Young’s show coming up on Nov. 10, also at the Fox.
I taped an amazing performance with Steve Earle that’ll I play on the Oct 21 edition of Fine Tuning on 107one. He was joined by his wife Allison Moorer on vocals on a couple of tracks, and you’ll be knocked out by this one, I promise!
