This Sunday on Fine Tuning I’ll be featuring “Owls, Omens, and Oracles,” the sixth studio release from Memphis-based singer and songwriter Valerie June In these troubled, turbulent times, Valerie’s inspirational album brings us some much-needed joy and solace. I’ll also have a major tribute to David Thomas of Pere Ubu, who died on April 30th at the age of 71. Originally from Cleveland, Pere Ubu was a band that broke the boundaries of punk and alternative-rock, and vocalist David Thomas was the only member of the group to appear on all of their albums.
